Birth Doula Working Toward Certification

Hello, my name is Shanita Fort and I am a mother ofa very loving and vibrant son. I am a trained labor and postpartum doula servicing the Augusta, GA and CSRA surrounding areas working towards my doula certifiction. I also service the Atlanta, GA and Columbia, SC areas. 

I am a  mother of an amazing little boy who shows me each and every day how strong and powerful I am.

Why I chose to be a Doula

Birth and the woman's body and strength has always intrigued me. Bringing new life into this world is an amazing experience and should be something that families are excited for and look forward to rather than feared. 

When I became pregnant with my son, I was so excited about my pregnancy and how my birth would go. It was my first pregnancy and I had SO many questions. 

Sadly, my prenatal questions were never answered or I was given the "beat around the bush" answer by my Health Care Provider, so I resorted to google a lot. 

I still remained positive and hopeful. I created my birth plan and continued to stay excited. 

Unfortunately, my labor was not one for the books. My doctor did not acknowledge my birth plan, tired to force me to induce, and did not make me feel empowered or in control at all. 

I would like to eliminate stories like mine as much as humanly possible. 

As your Doula, I will be your advocate and an advocate of your birth plan. I will make sure that you have all the pros and cons of every decision that is being made so that you and your partner can make a well informed self determined decision. 

It will be my pleasure to ensure that you have the most memorable birth.
